"Rose of Sharing" Pincushion

I teach a class at Cabbage Rose Quilting & Gifts in Fort Worth, Texas. I try to come up with different sewing accessories and special projects to add interest to the Journey With Jane class. One month we did a pincushion.  I took a 6" pattern of K7 - Rose of Sharing to make the pincushion. Click on the picture for instructions on how to make one for yourself.

History of Dear Jane © and My Journey

The Jane Stickle quilt was made during the American Civil War. She signed her quilt "In War Time 1863." Jane created a masterpiece consisting of 169 4.5" (approx.) square blocks surrounded by fifty-two 8"x5" triangles and four corner triangles. She pieced and appliquéd her blocks giving a variety for the viewer to behold.

In the early 1990s Brenda Papadakis started this journey for us by drafting the small intricate blocks and triangles. Today, 139 years later, quilters are recreating the Jane Stickle quilt as their personal statement of Joy and Friendship and sometimes Sorrow. Please visit the
Dear Jane Website. There you can see a picture of the quilt with numerous links for tips, pictures, and information regarding the Dear Jane Mail List.

I started my Dear Jane
© journey on December 20, 1998, with the help of my DJ friends. I am using P&B Textiles "Centennial Cream" for my background and sashing. My color scheme to is do the trip-around-the-world (TATW) pattern like Jane's quilt. I plan to use more greens, blues, and purples outside the TATW pattern. As blocks and triangles are made, I will post them to my web site. Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy sharing my DJ© journey. Please bookmark this site and return to see how my "Baby Jane" is growing.

Keep your needles stitching and a song in your heart...
